Critical Hits

An attack has a chance to be a critical hit resulting in extra damage. The base chance for a critical hit is 5% (10% if using a missile weapon), which is increased by levels in the appropriate weapon skill, levels in the find weakness skill, and by the class powers of archers, assassins, barbarians, and warrior monks/nuns.

Critical hits have a base damage multiplier of x2 (x3 if using a missile weapon), which is increased by levels in the appropriate weapon skill, and by the class powers of archers and assassins. Against monsters damage is multiplied before PV is applied. Against the player character the damage is multiplied after PV is applied 80% of the time.
